July 16th–31st

July 16th – 23rd

I did laundry and hung it up outside to dry. I read some in my mom’s swing. I finished the bird feeder I was making out of popsicle sticks. I’m thinking about painting it [update: I didn’t paint it then we got a strong storm and it broke.] I finished taking  the zipper out of the jacket that I’m fixing for a guy at church. I cleaned out a couple of the desk drawers in the craft room. I reorganized a couple of the shelves in the dinning room and put some board games in a box and stored them in the closet in the extra bedroom.
I finished reading Quaker Summer by Lisa Samson (I started reading it on July 3rd). I started reading A Cowboy’s Touch by Denise Hunter.

My finished bird feeder (with bird seed in it).

I did some laundry and hung it up (outside). I went with my mom to drop some paperwork off at the hospital. We went to the cafeteria so that she could see some of her co-workers. We came home and I did some more laundry. I started reading in the sun when my older sister came by. After she left, I went back outside and read some more in the sun. I hung up some laundry outside. I went through a container that had a lot of cards and card games in it. I made sure all the cards were there. I also made a couple of rings (out of wire) and painted them with nail polish.

These are the rings that I made.
The one of the right has two flowers on it.
This is the website where I got the idea for these rings from.

I went with my parents to drop some paperwork off for my mom. We then went to the library. I picked up some items I had on hold. I also got my reward (a new book) for reading four books in the Summer Reading Program. This is the first year the library has had an adult division for the Summer Reading Program. I didn’t see any books that are the type I like to read (Amish or Women of Faith), so I picked The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. My parents and I came home for a bit then my mom and I went and did some errands. Shortly after we got home, I hung up some laundry outside then read in my mom’s swing. I went and got my brother from work then came back here and helped get supper ready. my brother’s fiancé came with the girls (they ate supper with us). My brother and his fiancé left to go do some shopping. My mom and I watched the girls while they were gone. I played outside with them and then we came in (when it got dark) and played for a bit.

DSCN9719 copy
A cool license plate that I saw today (and I don’t live in Maryland).
I edited the number in Photoshop (I don’t like to display people’s license plate numbers).

I did some laundry then worked on the jacket for a guy at church. I took something to my older sister’s house then went to the grocery store (my mom went with me). After I got home, I cleaned some then hung up the laundry outside. I finished fixing the jacket for a guy at church. I read some until my brother’s fiancé got here with the girls. Then shortly after they got here, my brother arrived (he had to work on the 19th). We had supper and hung out for awhile. I made a couple more flower rings  (and painted them with nail polish).

DSCN9734 copy

I had never saw one on the top before.

I made a flower ring before church. The message from July 20th was titled,  “The Bible Will change Your Life”. Five truths about God’s Word that can change our lives are; 1) God’s Word Penetrates (Hebrews 4:12), 2) God’s Word Heals (Psalm 107:20), 3) God’s Word is Powerful (Jeremiah 23:29), 4) God’s Word Renews (1 Peter 1:23), and 5) God’s Word Cleanses (Psalm 119:8-9).

I use this nail polish to hold some of my rings.
The top one is one of the ones that I have made over the last few days.

I took my dad over to the clinic so that he could have some blood drawn. I waited in the car while he went in. We came home and I went back to sleep (It was really early in the morning when I took him). I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I went and ran an errand for my oldest sister. I came home and read in my mom’s swing.
I finished reading A Cowboy’s Touch by Denise Hunter (which I started reading on July 16th). I started reading My Life As A Doormat by Rene Gutterridge.

I saw this bird egg outside in the backyard.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some and cleaned some in the craft room. After supper I took the trash to the curb.

I hung up the laundry in the basement since they were white. I started working on a dress for my brother’s fiancé’s foster daughter. Her birthday is coming up. I read some in my mom’s swing. Shortly after supper I made some brownies (from a mix).

DSCN9785 copy

July 24th – 31st

I finished the dress for the foster daughter and washed it (along with some other items). I did some laundry. My brother’s fiancé brought the foster girls over for a bit today (I forgot why). I played with the girls outside for a bit. After they left I hung up some laundry outside.

DSCN9789 copy
I ran out of my professionally made personal tags, so I made my own.

I got clothes off the line and ironed the dress I made the other day. After ironing, I noticed that It was starting to rain, so I went and go the blankets off my mom’s swing. After my parents came back from my mom’s doctor appointment we ate lunch, then my mom and I went to get my youngest nephew. He is staying with us this weekend since his mom is working. We then went to Walmart so that he could pick out a gift for my brother’s foster daughter (for her birthday). We also had to look for some wrapping paper (or a gift bag) and a card. My mom called my dad and he told us that my brother got off at 2:30 p.m and we needed to pick him up. It was almost 2:30 p.m.. My nephew and I  paid for some things and left my mom there. We then went and picked up my brother. We came back and picked up my mom. On the way home we stopped at my bank then went to the grocery store. We then came here. My oldest nephew was here and him, my brother, and I went and got supper for everyone here (my parents, brother, oldest nephew, youngest nephew, and I). We ate then my dad and brother left to go get my brother-in-law and my next to the oldest nephew to go fishing. My brother’s fiancé picked up my mom, youngest nephew, and I (the foster girls were with her). The six of us then went to a sing-a-long showing of the movie Frozen. We came back here. The kids and I went outside and played for awhile. My brother and dad came back and my brother and his fiancé left the girls here while they went to the store. After they came back and got the girls, my youngest nephew and I watched tv in my room. My nephew at first wanted to sleep in the extra bedroom, but then fell asleep watching tv with me. I moved him into the extra bedroom while he was asleep.

Here is the finished dress that I made the other day.

I took my youngest nephew to get his haircut (my mom went with me). His dad had given me money to take him. The lady that usually cuts his hair wasn’t there, so it didn’t really get cut the right way (He has a cowlick really bad and only one person can cut it so it doesn’t sick up). We came home because we finally got mail [we hadn’t gotten mail all week and my dad called the post office the other day to find out why-someone (we don’t know who) had put a hold on our mail]. My mom and I then went and ran some errands. We then came home and got ready to go to my brother’s fiancé’s parents house to celebrate the oldest foster girl’s birthday. They have a pool there, so some of us swam (some of my brother’s fiancé’s family were also there as well as my older sister and her family). After the party my parents, youngest nephew, and I went to my brother’s fiancé’s house and had supper with them and the girls. My youngest nephew even played with the girls and their toys. After awhile we came home and on the way we stopped at Dairy Queen and got some ice cream. My youngest nephew is spending the night again so we can take him to Church in the morning.

July 27th was my day to help out in Children’s Church.
In the afternoon my oldest nephew came and needed me to type up something for him. Actually, he had dropped it off before we left for church and I forgot and took a nap after lunch. I typed it up fast for him and printed it out. My mom and I then went and got something for supper and brought it back here to eat.

A couple of Morning Glories that will bloom soon.

The mail got here right as my mom and I were going to go to the library. There was something in the mail that we needed to deal with right away. We did that, then went to the library. I got something I had on hold and my mom picked out her free book for reading the books she needed to for the summer reading program. she picked out a book she has never heard of and now isn’t sure she is going to like it [she hasn’t read it yet as of September 30th]. My mom and I then went and ran some more errands. We stopped and got some frozen yogurt on the way home (we also got some for my dad). I checked online for some deals for pizza for supper and I ordered it online. My brother, his fiancé, and the foster girls came over for supper (and to get my brother’s car).

DSCN9957 copy
Here is one of the Morning glories that was in the previous picture.

I did some laundry and hung some of it up outside and some of it in the basement. I read some in my mom’s swing then I soaked the grill plates in hot soapy water. I ‘m not sure what else I did on the 29th. I took out the trash after supper.

DSCN9973 copy
Another Morning Glory about to bloom.

I did some laundry and hung some of it up outside and some of it in the basement. I read some in my mom’s swing. I fixed a hole (along the collar) in a shirt. I went with my oldest sister to run a errand. I went through a basket of clothes.
I finished reading My Life As a Doormat by Rene Gutteridge (which I started reading on July 21st). I started reading The Accidental Bride by Denise Hunter.

DSCN9988 copy

My mom and I went to Joann Fabrics because they had special occasion fabrics on sale for 70% off. We got some fabrics to make dresses for my brother’s wedding. The wedding isn’t until May 2015, but we weren’t sure if there would ever be a sale like this again. They didn’t have enough fabric of the original color my mom was going to get, so she got a darker color. We then went and got some groceries from a nearby store then headed home since we bought milk. We ate some lunch then went and ran some errands. We came back home and I soaked the grill plates then went to pick my brother up from work. We came back here and my brother hung out for a bit then went home. I read in my mom’s swing while my dad cooked out.

I think these are called Naked Lilies.

I know I am really behind in publishing these blogs, but to be honest this is not at the top of my priority list [and now (October 1st) we are packing since we are moving at the end of the month.]. During the day I do everything else that needs to be done that at the end of the day I am too tired to sit and type this up.

July 1st–15th 2014

July 1st – 8th

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I took my mom to the store. We came home and I read some. My brother, his girlfriend, and the foster girls came to get my brother’s car and stayed for supper. I played outside with both girls for awhile before supper and then for a bit after supper. I took the trash to the curb.

DSCN9145 copy

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I cleaned out the grill. I took out the thing that holds the coals and washed it out and washed out the inside of the grill. I planted the tomatoes and zucchini plants in the ground then took a shower. After my shower I read some outside in my mom’s swing. I watched some TV then read in my mom’s swing again while my dad cooked out.

DSCN9151 copy

I did some more laundry and hung it up outside. I organized some clothes in the basement. I cleaned out a tote (washed it with soap and water). I read some in my mom’s swing. My brother came here after work to drop off his car so we can have it for the weekend. He brought an end table (it has drawers) with him. I cleaned the area where I wanted it to go then put my CD holder on top and some photo albums in one of the drawers. I went with him to a nearby store so we could get some jalapeños for the nachos we are having for supper. We came home and I helped my mom fix the nachos. After supper I read outside in my mom’s swing, then my brother’s girlfriend came with the foster girls (I think they were having a visit with their birth mom). I played outside with the girls for a little bit then we came inside and played some before they left. After they left I got on my laptop and couldn’t get online. I was able to get online on my tablet. I took my laptop downstairs and hardwired it to the modem and was able to get online. After awhile I went back upstairs to my room and restarted my laptop and after awhile I was able to get back online.
I finished reading  A Garden in Paris by Stephanie grace Whitson (I started reading it on June 23rd). I started reading Quaker Summer by Lisa Samson.

I did a load of laundry and got ready to go to a nearby town for fireworks. I watched Saving Mr. Banks then left to go watch fireworks. The church I go to provides supper for the volunteers at the fireworks. We all bring some type of side dish and someone provides meat to grill. After we ate I went and put our chairs and blankets down to save a place so we could watch the fireworks (they are shot over a lake).  I then came back and helped clean up some. The youth group from church sales light up toys there and I bought some small ones for my youngest nephew. We watched the fireworks then came home.

I hung a load of laundry outside [and overnight (on the 6th) it rained-guess I will have to re-wash them]. My brother came here after dropping off his girlfriend and the foster girls at their hair appointment. My mom and I went with my brother to the store to pick up a few things that we needed. We picked up my brother’s girlfriend and the girls on the way home. My brother and his girlfriend left the girls here while they went to look for a new couch and get some other things. My brother’s girlfriend said the girls needed to lay down before they could play. We watched a movie and the younger one fell asleep. After awhile she woke up and they wanted to play outside. We played in the sprinkler for a bit. My dad cooked on the grill outside for supper. After supper my brother and his girlfriend went for a walk and I played with the girls in the front yard. We colored with chalk. When my brother and his girlfriend got back they sat on the front steps while I played with the girls in the side yard. During this time my brother asked his girlfriend to marry him (and she said yes).  My brother’s fiancé had gotten the girls some glow sticks, so we played with them for awhile before they went home.

The message from July 6th was titled, “The Bible is a Tool for You to Use”. Five ways we can use The Bible as a tool (to transform our lives) are; 1) Search God’s Word (John 5:39-40), 2) Examine God’s Word (Acts 17:11-12 & John 16:13), 3) Meditate on God’s Word (Psalm 1:2, 119:15), 4) Delight in God’s Word (Psalm 119:16, 47), and 5) Declare God’s Word (Acts 4:20, Psalm 119:13, & Jeremiah 23:28).
Sometime in the evening my oldest sister called. My youngest nephew wanted to spend the night. Earlier in the week she had already asked about him spending the night on Monday night. I didn’t care, so I went and got him (my mom went with me). On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen and got some ice cream (we also got some for my dad).

DSCN9377 copy

I added my nephew’s books that he read to his reading log on the library’s website. We played outside for a little bit then went to the library. Since he had read all the books he needed to (10) he got to pick out a free new book and also got some coupons to local shops. He also picked out some DVDs to check out. We then went to a park for awhile then went grocery shopping (my mom had gone with us to all these places). When we got back here my nephew played on my laptop while I cleaned out the Step2 pool and filled it up. We played in it for awhile. My older sister’s husband stopped by with their oldest and he (my next to the oldest nephew) ended up staying the night. After supper the three of us (my two nephews and I) walked to a nearby park and they played for a bit.

DSCN9511 copy

My brother-in-law (older sister’s husband) dropped off his youngest two for us to watch while he went to the hospital for some therapy. All the boys (my youngest four nephews) played in the extra bedroom. I let them each have a turn playing on my laptop. My brother-in-law came back and all three of his kids left with him. My youngest nephew and I packed a picnic lunch and then walked to a nearby park (a different one than the day before). We were going to eat lunch there, but after a few minutes he didn’t want to play there anymore. We went back to my house and asked my mom to go with is to a different park (we drove to one this time). We ran an errand then went to the park. My nephew played for awhile (the sun was intense and all the metal things at the park were almost too hot to touch). After being there awhile a bus load of kids came. They were screaming and yelling and my nephew wanted to leave. We left and came back to my house. We played a CD Rom game on my laptop then his mom came and got him. My brother, his fiancé, and the girls came over for supper (and to get my brother’s car). After supper I played with the girls outside for a bit then we came inside and played some before they left.

July 9th – 15th

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I cleaned some in the basement and the craft room. I hemmed some clothes that were in the craft room. I walked with my mom to the hospital (it’s only about a block away) to get some medication from the pharmacy there for my dad. I read some in my mom’s swing after we got back here. I also cleaned some in the upstairs hallway.

DSCN9590 copy

I got swim shorts for my middle and next to the youngest nephews so they could swim in the Step2 pool. They were here (along with their older brother) while their dad went and had a procedure done at the hospital. I went and picked up my brother-in-law and older sister from the hospital and brought them here. I hung up some laundry (outside) and did another load. I took my older sister to run some errands then get some supper (she got something for her and her family & I got something for my parents and myself). After we ate my brother-in-law felt well enough to drive home. I planted a gladiola in the backyard near the rose bush. I clipped the carnation from the front yard and hung it upside down to dry. I read in my mom’s swing for a little bit then hung up some more laundry. I cleaned some more in the hallway upstairs and the extra bedroom. After supper I read more in my mom’s swing.

I took my mom to the store- to get groceries and my dad’s prescription medication. We ran some errands then came home and went through some stuff that my brother’s fiancé had put in the trunk of the car. I cleaned some more in the extra bedroom. After supper I got the clothes off the line outside.

DSCN9629 copy
A rose starting to open up in the front yard.

I did some laundry. I went with my parents to pick up my youngest nephew. He is spending the night so he can go to church in the morning (his mom is working). First, we had to dropped something off at my older sister’s. She wasn’t home, so we left it with her oldest. We then had to pick up some prescription medicine for my oldest sister. We picked up my youngest nephew and came home. I made the bed in the extra bedroom so my nephew could sleep in it. I needed some dark blue thread to work on a sewing project. My mom and I went to a couple of craft stores to look for some. We first went to Hancock Fabrics and they wanted over $7 for the thread that I like to use. We then went to Hobby Lobby and I found some for a little over $5. I had a coupon for 40% off at Hobby Lobby, so I got the thread there. My mom saw that they had patterns for $.99. We looked through the books to see if there was any patterns that we would like. I found a couple that I could use for my oldest two nephews and got them as well. My mom didn’t feel like cooking supper, so we stopped on the way home and got something to eat for us, my dad, and my youngest nephew. My nephew had stayed at the house with my dad while my mom and I went looking for thread.

DSCN9643 copy

The message from July 13th was titled, “The Bible is a Gift from God”. Four truths about God’s Gift to us (The Bible) so that we might better understand it are; 1) God’s gift is God-Breathed (2 Timothy 3:14-27, Genesis 2:7, & John 20:22), 2) God’s Gift is Life-Changing (John 20:31 & 1 Peter 1:23), 3) God’s Gift is Easily Understood (Luke 24:45 &Psalm 119:30), and 4) God’s Gift is our Source of Encouragement (Job 23:12, Psalm 119:103, 147, Jeremiah 15:16, & Romans 15:4).
After lunch I was going to take my youngest nephew home, but first I had to drop something off at my oldest nephew. I went and dropped that off at his apartment then took my youngest nephew home (my mom went with me). On the way home my mom and I stopped at Wendy’s near the house (it just recently opened). We both got a frosty as well as one for my dad. I paid for them since I had some cash.

DSCN9659 copy
My cup from Wendy’s. I got a white chocolate frosty.

I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement because of rain. I went outside to check out the damage from the rain. A neighbor had damage to part of her roof and the tree branch (huge) was across her driveway. Part of our fence in the front yard had fallen down. I cleaned some in the basement. My oldest nephew came to pick me up to meet my oldest sister. My oldest sister needed my help and she took me home when we were done. When I got home my brother and his fiancé  had already dropped off the foster girls. They were going to a small group Bible study. I played with the girls in the playroom since it was wet outside.

DSCN9672 copy
This is where the branch broke off the tree and landed in my neighbor’s driveway.
Her driveway is to the right.

I did some laundry and hung it up it the basement since the mowers were out mowing. I started cleaning and organizing in the craft room. I started making a bird feeder out of popsicle sticks. I did another load of laundry and hung it up outside (since the mowers were done). I started taking out a zipper in a jacket that a guy from church wants fixed. He wants buttons in it instead of a zipper. I read some in my mom’s swing. After supper I took the trash out.

June 16th–30th 2014

June 16th – 22nd

I did some laundry and hung some of it up outside. I read some then cleaned out the grill and soaked the grill grates so my dad could grill out. I cooked fries in the fryer. My brother’s girlfriend came and dropped her foster daughters off so the my mom and I could watch them while she went to a Bible study. My brother wasn’t feeling good so he stayed home. After supper the girls and I played outside in the sprinkler for a bit then came inside and played.

DSCN8872 copy
The pinwheel that is in the front garden area.
Hopefully this is keeping any animal from eating the carnations.

I did a load of laundry and hung it up outside. I read some inside since it’s hot outside. My mom was cleaning her and my dad’s room and found some puzzles that my dad doesn’t want. I went through the box and found out he had two copies of the puzzles. I started putting together one of the puzzles. My mom helped me some. After supper I read some then took out the trash. I’m uploading pictures for my oldest sister on Shutterfly. She had gotten a coupon to spend $20 on the website and it expires on June 28th.
I received my e-card from the store where I got my tablet. That is what they gave me for returning my broken one. It only covers the cost of a new tablet and not the cost of a protection plan. I’m trying to decide if I want to get the same one or get one that is cheaper.

DSCN8890 copy
A type of lily that is growing in the front garden area.
One of my sisters got this for my mom for Mother’s Day one year.

I went and got some medicine for my oldest nephew. He had gone to convenient care and they gave him a prescription. My mom went with me. We decided to get some groceries from the store near where we got my nephew’s medicine. I printed off my e-card and decided to look at tablets while we were out. I didn’t find any at the store we went to. We came home and worked some on the puzzle I had started yesterday. My mom had a doctor’s appointment and walked over (since we live near the hospital). I heard thunder and got clothes off the line, rolled up the windows in my nephew’s car, and got the blankets off my mom’s swing. My mom called and said she was done with her appointment. Since it was raining, I went and got her. We came home and worked some more on the puzzle. After supper my mom and I went to another store to get some more groceries (we were going to go after her appointment, but had forgotten). Before we went to the grocery store, I went to another store to look at the tablets there. At first I didn’t see any I really liked, then I saw some like the one I had. I got it. We then went to the grocery store then came home.

DSCN8895 copy
This was the puzzle that I (and others in my family) had been working on the past two days. There was a piece missing, but I found it under one of the couches a couple of days later.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some. I cleaned out the Step2 pool. I took my mom to taco bell to get some tacos for supper. I pinned a blanket (going to sew it later) for a guy at church. After 10 p.m. I went outside and turned the pool upside down. I also got the clothes off the line since it might rain overnight.

DSCN8896 copy
The garden area out front is full of Tiger lilies.

I did some laundry and hung it up (probably outside). I filled the Step2 pool up and hemmed a blanket for a guy at church. I read some then cleaned up the living room. I found out that somehow it either rained in the window in the living room or the air conditioner spit water onto the floor. Everything that was on a small table in front of the window was wet-I sat it all out to dry. My brother came here after work and his girlfriend and the foster girls came over. I made chicken nuggets for supper and my mom made macaroni and cheese. After supper the girls and I played in the pool and sprinkler while my brother and his girlfriend went to the store. After we were done playing outside we came inside and ate some ice cream. Shortly after that my brother and his girlfriend came back and they went home.

It’s a huge ball where the water comes out of three sides and the top.

I did some laundry. I took my mom to run some errands, then dropped some things off at my older sister’s. We then went and got some groceries. I did some more laundry and hung some of it outside and some of it in the basement. I finished the blanket for the guy at church and hemmed some shorts for my youngest nephew. My brother and his girlfriend dropped their foster girls off so that mom and I could watch them. My brother and his girlfriend were going to spend some time with some friends. The girls and I played in the pool some then came inside to eat supper. My dad cooked on the grill outside, but somehow the brats that he cooked didn’t get all the way cooked. My mom ended up boiling them on the stove. The girls, my mom, and I played in the living room some before my brother and his girlfriend came to get the girls.

DSCN8912 copy
My mom and I saw this upside down car as we were leaving one of the stores we went to.

On June 22nd we watched a video at church. It was a video of Louie Giglio speaking about Isaiah 6:1-6.
After church my parents and I went to Walmart to get a fishing license for my dad. We waited for someone to help then I went looking for someone. I found someone and they paged another someone. We waited a little bit then someone came, but they didn’t know how to do a fishing license. So, they paged someone else. We waited more then decided to leave since no one was coming to help and we had waited well over 20 minutes. After lunch I worked some more on the photo album for my oldest sister.

June 23rd – 30th

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I worked on my oldest sister’s photo book. I had to add some magnets to make the total over $20 before shipping & handling and taxes. I e-mailed my sister to let her know. Shortly after supper I got the clothes off the line and cleaned up the backyard. The mowers are suppose to be here tomorrow.
I finished reading Child of Mine by Beverly & David Lewis (I started reading it on June 12th). I started reading A Garden In Paris by Stephanie Grace Whitson.

I don’t use it that often.
I mostly write Bible verses in it.

I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement just in case it rains. I ordered the photo book (& magnets) for my sister. It’s going to be a present for her husband. I took my mom to get supper for her, my dad, my oldest nephew, and myself. I hemmed some shorts. My brother and his girlfriend came to get my brother’s car. They left the foster girls here while they went to the store. I played in the playroom with the youngest while the oldest played with my mom in the living room. I took the trash out to the curb.

I love that you can see the sun rays in this photo.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some. I went through some boxes in the basement and put some shirts too big for my nephews in a box. I hemmed a pair of pants into shorts (holes in the knees). I did some more laundry and hung it up in the basement.

Some type of wildflower (or is it a weed?) that is growing in the front yard.

I woke up to the city workers cutting down a tree on the other side of the street (I could hear them through my window). I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some. My brother-in-law (older sister’s husband) went to the ER and his oldest went with him. The younger two are here. It rained a bit, but I left the clothes on the line. The rain only lasted a few minutes. I picked up my older sister from work and brought her here so that she could make a few phone calls. I took her and the boys home and stopped at Little Caesar’s so that she could get some pizza for them for supper (my mom went with me). After dropping them off at their house, my mom and I went to the store and got some groceries. I helped my oldest nephew put things in his car. He is moving back to his apartment. I then helped my mom make the bed and clean the room he was staying in here.

This in the front yard.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. My brother-in-law has to stay at the hospital. I went and got my older sister and took her to Steak-n-Shake to get some lunch. I came back home and let her youngest two play in the Step2 pool. I did some laundry and read some. My brother came here and got things ready to go fishing. He took my mom to the store. When they got back my mom, my older sister’s youngest two, and I left to go get my older sister from work. We then went and ran some errands that my older sister needed done. I took my older sister and her youngest two home (her oldest was going fishing with my dad and brother). On the way back here, my mom and I stopped and got some supper. My brother’s girlfriend dropped off their foster girls here so that my mom and I could watch them while she went with her parents somewhere. Not long after she left, my brother, dad, and next to the oldest nephew came back from fishing (it was going to rain soon). I played in the pool with the girls for a little bit then afterward we had some ice cream. My next to the oldest nephew went with my brother (& the girls) to pick up his girlfriend since he (my nephew) was spending the night with them. My older sister had bought me some Band-Its (a pack of red, white, and blue) at one of the stores we had gone to. I made a couple of bracelets then tried making an anklet, but it was a little tight.

DSCN8979 copy

My mom and I went to the post office so we could mail a blanket (that mom had made) to a friend (for her baby). My mom had made her one shortly after the baby was born and somehow it had gotten messed up (it was crocheted) and our friend asked for another one. We then went shopping. I looked for a watch at one of the stores we went to and couldn’t find any (I had lost my watch and wanted another one). After we came home I looked for my watch and finally found it in one of the drawers in the upstairs bathroom. Got ready to go somewhere then ate supper before mom and I left. We went to the town where my oldest sister lives since they were having fireworks. We stopped at a gas station along the way to get some ice (we took drinks and snacks with us). We had to park a few blocks from the park where the fireworks were. We found a spot to sit then my brother-in-law (older sister’s husband) found us and walked back to the car with me (he wanted a chair that was in the trunk). Along the way to the car, I found a closer spot (right next to the park). My brother-in-law stood in the spot while I got the car and moved it. My brother, his girlfriend, and the foster girls came and met us. They had my next to the oldest nephew with them. I played on the playground with the girls for awhile then I went with my mom to get a funnel cake. My oldest sister and her youngest joined us to watch the fireworks. After the fireworks everyone (except my oldest sister and youngest nephew) helped take things to the car. It took my mom and I a bit to get out of the town (there was a huge crowd and lots of cars).

June 29th was my day to help in Children’s Church at Church.

I did some laundry and hung it up (can’t remember if it was outside or in the basement). I organized some of the clothes in the basement. I went to the library to return some items and to get some items I had on hold. I came home and read some and did some more laundry. I hoed up some of where I want to put my tomato and zucchini plants. I emptied the Step2 pool and moved it. I also cleaned up the yard since the mowers are suppose to mow tomorrow (Tuesday).

June 1st–15th 2014

June 1st – 8th

The message from June 1st was titled, “How Jesus Helps Us Slow Down”. Our  “hurry up” lifestyle has a negative impact on us  in that 1) We feel more stress (Ecclesiastes 5:3), 2) We lose our joy (Job 9:25), and 3) We don’t hear God (Psalm 46:10). Four Strategies For Slowing Down are; 1) Learn Contentment (Philippians 4:11, 1 Timothy 6:6-7), 2) Listen Before Speaking (James 1:19, Ecclesiastes 5:2), 3) Commit to Rest (Exodus 20:9-10) – rest your body, recharge your emotions, and refocus your spirit (Psalm 127:2), and 4) Trust God’s Timing (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
I finished reading The Debt by Angela Hunt, I started reading it on May 26th.

DSCN1341 copy
My ice cream on my cone had a heart shaped hole in it.
I’m not sure how that happened.

I took my mom to the store (using my oldest nephew’s car). We went to a store that had some meat on sale, we got some then went to another store to get some things. We were going to get some gas at Walmart, but I thought that gas was cheaper elsewhere. We went somewhere else to get gas in the car. Shortly after we got home my oldest nephew helped my mom and I put the AC unit in the window in the living room. My nephew fixed the bracing that we have outside for the AC unit. I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement since it might rain. After super my mom helped me move some things in the backyard because the mowers come tomorrow (on Tuesdays).

DSCN1344 copy
I saw this grill at Schnucks today.
I thought it was an interesting shape.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some outside in my mom’s swing. I soaked the grill plates (or whatever it is that you call the things you actually grill on that come off the grill) and cleaned the grill so that my dad could grill out. I took the trash out and put a small bike that we no longer want by the curb. My next to the oldest nephew is spending the night.

DSCN1368 copy
One of the roses in the backyard.

I took my mom to her therapy session then went to the library to return an item and pick up one I had on hold. I asked my next to the oldest nephew which material he wanted me to use to make him a pair of shorts, since I didn’t give him anything for his birthday. [OHMY…Here it is August 5th as I type this and I still haven’t started these shorts. I did buy a new pattern to use. Update: I made the shorts and finished them on August 11th.] I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement since it might rain. I cleaned some in the living room and dinning room. I sharpened some pencils that needed sharpened (they had been used and the tips weren’t sharp). I used a manual one and ended up with a small blister on my middle finger. My oldest nephew took me to get supper. I cleaned some more. Ugh, my tablet is having WIFI problems. My laptop is connected fine, but not my tablet.

DSCN1391 copy
I was going to make peanut butter cookies in my cookie press,
but my next to the oldest nephew wanted regular peanut butter cookies.
These are the cookies I made.

DSCN1388 copy
Here is the cookie recipe I used.
It is the easiest peanut butter cookie recipe I have ever saw.

I’m not sure of all I did on June 5th (I forgot to write anything down). I think I cleaned some in the playroom. My uncle who lives far away was visiting my other uncle who is sick (he has cancer) and decided to come visit us also. He came for a couple of hours and my brother and older sister were able to come and see him for a little while. I’m sure I went to the store (based on some of the pictures I took).

DSCN1402 copy
The sun setting behind some buildings that I passed after going to the store.

I took my mom to her doctor’s appointment (I used my oldest nephew’s car). I took my tablet with me and was able to get on the WIFI there with no problem. There was a guy there that was pruning the rose bushes. When we left, I picked up a rose and took it home. I put it in a small potato and will replant it in the ground to see if it grows again. [Update-I might have waited to long to replant it. It looked like it was dying when I planted it in the ground. A squirrel may have dug it up because a few days later it looked like there was a hole where I planted it and the rose was gone.] I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I cleaned the grill out (dumped the used coal) and soaked the grill plates so my dad could grill out. I went with my brother to the store so we could get some hamburger and hotdog buns. My brother’s girlfriend made (with the help of her foster girls) some cupcakes for my oldest nephew’s birthday. His birthday was May 28th, but we (those of us that live here and my brother and his girlfriend) were kind of celebrating it on June 6th.  My next to the oldest nephew was also here for supper. After supper my dad, mom, brother, oldest two nephews and I played Yahtzee and I won.

DSCN1410 copy

I went to a safety fair with my brother, his girlfriend, and their foster daughters. My mom went with me and my oldest two nephews also went. My nephews didn’t stay long. We ate lunch there then came home. My brother, his girlfriend, and the girls left to go to a birthday party for someone. My older sister and her husband dropped off their two youngest so that I could watch them while my brother-in-law went to the ER. He ended up staying (I can’t remember for how long). I ran to the store to get some things we needed for supper. My mom made nachos for supper. While she cooked the meat I made a cake for my oldest nephew (he wanted a red velvet cake for a late birthday present). I melted the cheese for the nachos and we ate supper. My sister came back from the hospital and I took her and her boys home (all of the boys). After I came home I frosted and decorated the cake.

This was the first time I had ever saw pink firefighter’s hats.

The message from June 8th was titled, “ How Jesus Helps Us To Prioritize Our Lives” and the text was Luke 10:38-42. Three lies that keep us busy are; 1) There’s Not Enough Time To Do Everything, 2) It’s Just a Busy Season Right Now, and 3) This Is Really Important. Four Truths About Busyness Based on Luke 10:38-42 are; 1) Busyness Begins With Good Intentions (Luke 10:38), 2) Busyness Develops Through Distractions (Luke 10;40), 3) Busyness Creates Pressure and Pity (Luke 10:40) and 4) Busyness Produces Resentment (Luke 10:40). Three steps we can take to help defeat busyness are; 1) Confess the Lie, 2) Name the Distraction, and 3) Choose what is Best (ask-What is my standard? How does my life choices reflect that standard? Is there anything I need to say ‘”No” to?).
I fixed my WIFI on my tablet by using a suggestion I found here.
Before church I had to take something to my brother-in-law at the hospital. My oldest nephew used my brother-in-law’s van to pickup my older sister and her boys. After church my parents and I went and got some lunch. My brother came and got his car. His girlfriend and their foster daughters came inside and stayed for a bit. The youngest one (who is two) is starting to warm up to us.

May 9th – 15th

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I played outside some with my middle three nephews. They were here since their dad was in the hospital. I got my older sister from work and took her to the hospital so she could see her husband. I took my mom to the store so that she could get some groceries. When we got back home, my sister was back from visiting her husband. We all ate supper. My brother and his girlfriend came by to drop their foster daughters off so that my mom and I could watch them while they went to their small group (church group). The youngest didn’t want to stay, but the oldest one did. I took my sister and her boys home. When I got back home I found out that my uncle (my mom’s brother-in-law) had died. He had been battling cancer.

DSCN8792 copy
The sun setting behind some clouds as I took my sister and her boys home.

I went to the library to drop off some items and to pick up some items I had on hold. My mom and I then went and ran some errands. When we came out of a store, it was raining and we didn’t have any umbrellas. I got the car (my oldest nephews) so my mom didn’t have far to walk, but we got soaked anyway. We got gas in the car then went home. I went and got my older sister from work and took her to see her husband (the boys were here). After a few hours she came here and I took her and the boys home. I came home and had some supper then took the trash out. I haven’t been feeling well the past few days. It started as a scratchy throat on Sunday (June 8th). I got some medicine to help today.

DSCN8804 copy

I did an errand for my oldest sister (had to renew her registration for her vehicle). Shortly after I came home from doing that, I had to take something to my brother-in-law at the hospital. I came back home and did some laundry. I read some then went and got my older sister from work. As I was leaving, my brother-in-law called and said that they were releasing him from the hospital. I went and got my sister then went and got my brother-in-law. We came here and they got the boys (their three boys) and went home. I helped my mom with supper.

DSCN8811 copy
A unique vehicle that I saw when I was running the errand for my sister.

I picked my older sister, her husband, and her oldest from the hospital (my brother-in-law had a colonoscopy done). We came here and then I took my sister to the store (I got some things we need while I was there). We came back here and my dad drove my brother-in-law’s van to take my sister and her family home. I followed in my oldest nephew’s car. My dad and I came back home and I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in my mom’s swing then I went through some boxes in the basement to see if any of the clothes would fit my nephews. I put ones that weren’t going to fit my older sister’s youngest two for awhile in a big tote. I cleaned some in my room. After supper I read some more in my mom’s swing.
I finished reading A Prairie Christmas (nine stories in one by nine different authors). I started reading it on November 9th. I started reading Child of Mine by David & Beverly Lewis.

DSCN8825 copy
The bird feeder I made today. I used a Pringles can to make it.

I took my mom to the store to get some things. We had to pick up her (prescription) medication at Walmart and ended up getting some things that were on sale. My mom got all her grandkids (the five boys and two foster girls) some bubbles. We stopped at another store on the way home so that I could get my dad some things for my dad for Father’s Day. I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in my mom’s swing. My brother came here after work and his girlfriend and the foster girls came later. After supper my mom and I watched the girls while my brother and his girlfriend went to the store. They got some things that were on sale at Walmart and even got me a couple of pens.

My uncle’s funeral was today. My mom and I met my oldest sister there, she had her youngest with her. Her oldest picked up my older sister and brought her. My brother and his girlfriend also came. My mom, oldest sister and youngest nephew went with me to the mausoleum. My older sister went with my brother and his girlfriend. After it was over I took my oldest sister back to her vehicle (she left it at the funeral home). We then came back to my house for a bit (my nephew stayed with me). My mom and older sister went with my brother and his girlfriend to my aunt’s house where they were having a luncheon. I went and picked my oldest sister up at her house (her husband needed the vehicle) and we went to my aunt’s. My youngest nephew went with me. After awhile we left (my brother and his girlfriend left earlier). I took my older sister home then took my oldest sister and youngest nephew home. My mom and I came home for a bit then was going to get something for supper. My oldest sister left her phone in the car and as I was leaning back inside the car to look for it I leaned on my tablet (with my knee). I had sat it in the seat when I got out. I checked my tablet and there was a crack on the inside (the inside screen not the plastic/glass screen). The screen is white. UGH My mom and I went and got supper for her, my dad, and I. When I was done eating I filed a claim through the store we had bought it [thankfully we had bought the extra protection for it]. I then took my oldest sister her phone and my youngest nephew ended up coming back home with me to stay the night. I hemmed another blanket for a guy at church.

DSCN8849 copy
This is how my tablet looked after I had leaned on it.
I will need to send it back and the store will give me an e-card to buy another one.

Happy 16th Anniversary to my older sister and her husband!

The message from June 15th was titled, “Striving To Be a Good Dad”. Three Roles We Must Play in Our children’s Lives (regardless of their age) are; 1) Strive To Be a Good Example (Acts 16:31-34 & Joshua 24:25), 2) Strive To Be a Good Teacher (Proverbs 1:1-9 & 15:2), and 3) Strive To Be a Good Coach (Ephesians 6:4).
My brother and his girlfriend came here to pick up my brother’s car. My next to the oldest nephew was with them (he had spent the night with them). They left the foster girls here while they went to the store. We (the girls, my nephew, and I) played with bubbles and some toys here. My brother’s girlfriend is going to ship my tablet since UPS come to her work everyday. I’m not feeling well, my stomach is hurting.

May 16th–31st 2014

May 16th – 23rd

I cleaned some of the dinning room and living room. I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement. I painted a Pringles can (I will make it into a bird feeder soon).  I think [I can’t remember the exact date] I planted some tomato seeds. I cleaned off an old highchair that we have so that we can use it for one of my brother’s girlfriend’s foster daughters. It started to rain while I was cleaning it off outside, so I put it on the back porch to finish cleaning it off. I ended up using a hair dryer to dry off the safety belt. I cleaned off a booster seat for the other girl to use. I read some. My brother, his girlfriend, and their foster daughters came and ate supper with us. After supper we (my parents, oldest nephew, brother, brother’s girlfriend, and I) played Phase 10. After a few hands my oldest nephew quit so he could go rest before he had to go to work. I ended up winning the game.

My winning hand in Phase 10.

I did some laundry and hung it outside. I went and ran an errand with my mom and we then went to get some groceries. On the way home I remembered something that we had forgotten, so we stop at another store. I read some then did some more laundry.

A car that my mom and I saw while we ran errands.
We both thought that it was a pretty blue.

May 18th’s message at church was titled, “How Jesus Revitalizes Our Lives” and the text was John 20:19-23. Four things from John 20 that Jesus revitalize His disciples and will revitalize our lives are; 1) Jesus Meets Us Where We Are (John 20:19), 2) Jesus Gives Us Encouragement (John 20:19, Philippians 4:6-7), 3) Jesus Fills Us With His Presence (John 20:22, Galatians 5:22-23, & 2 Timothy 1:7), and 4) Jesus Offers Us Forgiveness (John 20:23, Psalm 32:1-2).
After lunch I read outside. I’m not feeling well, hopefully it’s nothing.
I finished reading Here Burns My Candle (which I started reading May 6th). I started reading Mine Is The Night. Both books are by Liz Curtis Higgs. I made a tuna helper (a creamy broccoli one) for supper.

DSCN1024 copy
One of the Irises that are blooming in the front garden area.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I went and put some gas in my oldest nephew’s car. I read some in my mom’s swing and worked on the blog for March 16th- 31st.

The S’more I made today.
It’s made with white chocolate.
It’s Yummy!

I did some laundry and hung it up outside [ok, I do this almost everyday]. I read some in my mom’s swing. I emptied the grill out and soaked the crates so my dad could grill out. I took the trash out. I also worked on some Easter Pictures.

DSCN1057 copy
Some wildflowers that grew in the garden out front.

I took some items back to the library and then took my mom to the store. We were going to put some gas in my oldest nephew’s car at Walmart, but I remembered that Schnucks was cheaper the other day. We went to Schnucks and got gas there and it was a little cheaper. I came home and hung up some laundry. I read some then did some more laundry. I went with my brother-in-law to run some errands. I came  home and watched some TV then got the clothes off the line outside since it was going to rain.

DSCN1085 copy
Some Irises blooming in the garden out front.

I did some laundry (need to hang it up). I took my mom to run some errands. She needed some cash to pay some bills at this one store, so we went to Schnucks. While there we got some things we need for a family picnic on Sunday. We were about to get in line to pay for our items when my oldest nephew called us (we were using his car). He needed us to come get him and take him to the cell phone store because his phone wasn’t working. We went and got him and took him to the cell phone store. They couldn’t really do anything since his name isn’t on the bill (he is under his mom’s plan). We went and paid the bills my mom needed to pay, but first we stopped and got some slushies at a gas station. We came home and my nephew tried something the guy from the cell phone store told him about, but it didn’t work and he has a replacement phone on it’s way. I read some in my mom’s swing. My oldest nephew took me to get some supper.

DSCN1097 copy
A bird eating out of the bird feeder.
The squirrels have chewed on this bird feeder so much that I can’t fill it full.

I went with my mom to this huge garage sale that happens every year. We then came home and I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in the sun. My mom wanted something grilled out for supper so we went to a nearby store and got some pork chops and other things. I cleaned off the grill and soaked the grill plates (my mom was going to clean them off). I read some in my mom’s swing.

DSCN1100 copy
I saw this interesting sculpture outside the building where the huge garage sale was.
This was carved out of the tree that was here.
I edited this picture in Photoshop so the people in the background weren’t visible.

May 24th – 31st

I tried to clean paint off the screen from the front screen door, but it wouldn’t come off. I had gotten the paint on there awhile ago when I painted the front fence. I helped my mom fix the screen door-the bottom piece needed to be put back in place. I read some . My brother brought us his car to use over the weekend. I made some sun tea-I put the water and tea bags in and set it in the sun. I took my mom grocery shopping. We also got some gas in my brother’s car. I did some laundry and hung it up outside then finished the sun tea. I read some in my mom’s swing. My next to the oldest nephew is spending the night.

DSCN1136 copy
I saw this at one of the stores we went to.
The bottom description says, “ICE CREAM TRUCK”, but on the truck itself is listed, “PIZZA, WINGS, PASTA, DRINKS, & PKG’ING”. To me those things aren’t ice cream nor are they sold on an Ice Cream Truck.

The message from May 25th was titled, “How Jesus Lightens Our Load” and the text was Job 6:2-3 & Matthew 11:28-30. Three secrets to stress management so the Jesus can de-stress us are; 1) Come to Jesus (Matthew 11:28, Isaiah 40:29-31, & Matthew 6:6), 2) Give Up Control (Matthew 11:29, Psalm 55:22), and 3) Learn to Trust (Matthew 11:29, Romans 10:17).
After church we came home and changed our clothes, picked up the food we were taking to the picnic at my brother’s girlfriend’s house. We waited on my older sister and her family (they were following us) then we went and picked up my oldest sister from her house. We stopped and got some chips that my oldest sister wanted. We then went to the picnic. Most of my brother’s girlfriend’s family was there. We ate and played some games. I colored with chalk with my brother’s girlfriend’s foster daughters. After awhile we came home.

I have no idea what it is.

Happy Memorial Day!

I went to Dairy Queen for lunch with my mom. I used a gift card that I had received from helping all year with Teen Bible Quizzing. I went through a box in the basement to see if my middle and next to the youngest nephews could wear any of the clothes in it. I read in my mom’s swing. I helped my mom cook chicken Enchiladas for her and I. My dad, brother, and oldest two nephews went and saw a minor league baseball game.
I finished reading Mine Is The Night by Liz Curtis Higgs, which I started reading on May 18th. I started reading The Debt by Angela Hunt.

My blizzard that I got with my lunch.
It’s a Strawberry Shortcake Blizzard.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in my mom’s swing. I went through another box in the basement. I got the clothes off the line since it was lightening and thundering out. I dropped a clothespin and couldn’t find it since it was dark. I took the trash out.

Happy 20th Birthday to my oldest nephew! [His birthday was on the 28th of May.]

I took my mom to her therapy appointment (using my oldest nephew’s car). I took a book and my tablet there (they have free WI-FI). I found out that Maya Angelou passed away-I need to read more of her work. I read some. My oldest sister came by (with her husband and youngest son) to wish her oldest son (my oldest nephew) Happy Birthday. I helped my mom take apart and clean an Air Conditioner that goes in the hallway upstairs. After it was dry I put it in the window and turned it on. I read some in my mom’s swing after supper. I helped my mom clean and rearrange the living room so that we could put the AC unit in the living room window (we’ll do that on a later date).

DSCN1268 copy
One of the roses in the backyard.

I did laundry and hung it up outside. I read some outside. It started sprinkling (raining), so I got the clothes off the line and hung them up in the basement. I googled (searched) how to keep squirrels from eating roses. The squirrels had bitten the roses off the bush in the backyard and had left the petals on the ground. I tried a couple of things, but they didn’t work because another rose had been taken when I checked after supper. My mom and I went and got some ice cream for everyone here (her, my dad, my oldest nephew, and I) from Dairy Queen (we used my oldest nephew’s car). I can’t remember exactly when, but sometime in the last day or two I cut a small piece of board to be used in the living room window on the sides of the AC unit.

DSCN1301 copy
The sun setting as my mom and I went to get ice cream.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in my mom’s swing. I brought a big piece of wood up from the basement to use as a table top for a table we have outside. The glass top had broken a few years ago. My mom asked my dad to use a saw to cut it. I marked it since part of it had mold/mildew on it from being in the basement so long. I held the board while my dad cut it. I put up a curtain rod in the living room (and put the curtain on it). It was the curtain rod we were going to use on the back door, but decided not to. I cleaned up some under near the back porch. While I was cleaning where we put the bikes, my brother was fixing a board on the back porch. He stood up and knocked the cooler lid off the side of the porch and it hit me in the head. It hurt for awhile. I put some ice on it to keep it from swelling. My brother’s girlfriend needed to take one of the foster girls to get her hair done. After they were done they came here and we ordered pizza and ate it outside.

I helped my mom paint the table top that my dad had cut the day before. We painted just a coat of white on the top and bottom. We then mixed brown and white to get a light brown color for the top. I painted “May 31 2014” and a big H on the bottom. We did two coats on the top. I did some laundry. My mom and I went and ran some errands. When we got back I hung up the clothes outside then read in my mom’s swing.

May 1st–15th 2014

May 1st- 7th

I did some laundry and hung it up in the basement. I cleaned the Step2 slide. I went and got my three middle nephews from school (my mom went with me). We went by their house so that the oldest (of those three) could get the outfit he needed for his band concert. We came back to my house and I started cleaning the playroom. I ironed the shirt my nephew needed for his concert. My brother-in-law had surgery [I think he had his gallbladder taken out.]. My older sister went to be with him for awhile. We ate supper and then got ready for the band concert. My parents, older sister, and the boys went to the band concert.

DSCN0658 copy
A windmill between the middle and high schools that my three middle nephews go to.

I cleaned the playroom-I went through the books. I went and got my older sister from work (my mom went with me). We took my sister to run some errands and ran some errands for my oldest sister and ourselves. We went to the hospital since my brother-in-law was getting out of the hospital. It was taking awhile for him to come down, so I took my mom home and got the boys (my brother had picked them up from school). I then went back to the hospital and got my brother-in-law and older sister. I took then to go get some medication that was prescribed to my brother-in-law. Then I took them home. I came home and had supper with my parents, my brother, my brother’s girlfriend, her foster girls, and my oldest nephew. After supper the adults played UNO while the girls watched Frozen.

DSCN0671 copy
The sun trying to shine through some clouds while I was waiting for my sister and brother-in-law to get his medication.

I took my brother-in-law his van, my dad followed in my brother’s car. We came home for a few minutes then my mom and I went grocery shopping. We got my dad’s medication from Walmart and got some gas in the car. I bought a carnation bush for my mom (an early Mother’s Day present) and I bought Heaven is For Real (for myself). We ran into some friends we haven’t seen in awhile at one of the stores we went to. I read some in my mom’s swing then cleaned under the grill tray in the grill. I did some laundry. I had to re-clean some pieces of the Step2 slide because they had gotten muddy. I planted some morning glories that had been soaking in warm water. I planted them around the fence in the front yard.

A squirrel had gotten to the tulip and ripped the petals off.

The message from May 4th was titled, “Surviving Saturday”.  Three truths that will help us move from the never ending Saturday to the Power of the Resurrection are; 1) Believe It’s Possible (Romans 8:37, 6:14, 8:29). 2) Feed Your New Nature (Romans 8:5-6), and 3) Live Out Our clean Slate (Romans 8:1).
After church my oldest sister followed us to the store. Her youngest (my youngest nephew) rode with us. He stayed in the car with my dad while my mom, sister, and I went in to get some groceries. My nephew went home with his mom and my parents and I went home. We tried to eat lunch, but it wasn’t done yet [I forgot what we were having-maybe Chicken Rice Casserole]. My oldest nephew came here (was dropped off) and shortly after he got here his biological dad came to give him some money so he could go buy a car from some people he knows. I took him to go get the car (which was in a town about 20 minutes away). I then came home and ate my lunch.
I finished reading Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo  which I started reading on April 28th.

FYI: Most of the books I read, I borrow from the library.

DSCN0704 copy
My snack while reading in my mom’s swing- chips with some queso blanco and some flavored water.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. There was a maintenance guy here today who replaced our old back doors. Now we don’t have a screen door on the back porch. I walked with my mom to the ATM inside the hospital so she could get some cash. My brother came here and got my dad and oldest nephew. They were then going to pick up my oldest sister and then go to a CUBS game in Chicago. This was their first time ever going to a MLB game. My oldest sister had a nice friend give her four tickets to the game. My mom and I went and picked up my youngest nephew from his bus stop. We stopped along the way to get a curtain rod for the new back door. [We ended up using it for the window in the living room and doing something else for the new back door.] We also got an air freshener for the car (we were using my oldest nephew’s car). We picked up my youngest nephew and then got a bag of things from my oldest sister’s car. We then dropped off some videos at a Family Video and found out that it was the wrong Family Video (there are three in the area). So, we took them back to the right one. We then took my youngest nephew to a park in town that had gotten some new equipment since the last time he played on it (about a year ago). After that we went and got some supper and brought it back and ate in the backyard. My youngest nephew played outside some, worked on his homework and played some games on my tablet and computer then went to sleep.

I have no clue why the color looks off in this picture.
The quality isn’t the best.

I took my youngest nephew to school (my mom went with me). We then went and put some gas in the car (my oldest nephew’s). My mom also picked up some upholstery cleaner for the car-she used it on the floorboards shortly after we got home. I went back to sleep for a little bit then did some laundry. I planted the bush I got my mom for Mother’s Day in the garden area in the front yard. I hung up some laundry outside. I cleaned off a toy baby piano we had stored up. I read some outside. I took the trash out.
I started reading Here Burns My Candle by Liz Curtis Higgs.

DSCN0832 copy
The carnation bush I got my mom for Mother’s Day.
I planted it in the garden area in the front yard today (May 6th).

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I sat in the sun and read for awhile. I cleaned off the grill grates and disposed of the soot in the grill. My oldest nephew returned some items to the library for me. His girlfriend came over (with her son) for a little bit and had supper with us. I made some popcorn for my mom and myself (we were the only ones that wanted any).

I got a sunburn today from sitting out in the sun and reading.
It turned into a tan a few days latter.

April 8th – 15th

Happy 15th Anniversary to my oldest sister and her husband [on May 8th]!

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read outside in the sun and in my mom’s swing. I cleaned out the grill so that my dad could cook out. My oldest nephew took me to the store so I could get some oil for the fryer. I cooked fries in the fryer when we got back from the store.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside (hopefully it doesn’t rain). I read some.  My brother took my mom and I grocery shopping. We then went to the library so I could drop some items off and pick up some items I had on hold. I made a back up DVD of some of my pictures.

DSCN0867 copy

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some in the sun and made my mom some sun tea. I put some patches on a pair of jeans for my next to the oldest nephew. I made a card for my mom for Mother’s Day.

I have tried a lot of things to keep them from climbing it, but nothing is working.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms!

May 11th was my day to help in Children’s Church. We had the kids make some paper flowers for their moms.
Before church I had to help my mom take things out from under the sink in the bathroom upstairs. I was eating breakfast and I heard something and then noticed that there was a small amount of water coming through the ceiling. I went upstairs and noticed there was a lot of water under the sink (the pipes under the sink were leaking). We got everything out from under the sink and I moped up the floor in the dinning room (the room below the upstairs bathroom).
After church my parents and I went and got something for lunch. Shortly after we came home I went for a walk around the park near my house. I read some in my mom’s swing and then helped my mom make some chicken enchiladas for supper.

DSCN0932 copy
At the park I saw a lot of baby geese.
These ‘parents’ are making sure their babies are safe.
Shortly before I took this picture the geese were in the grass nearby and a Fire truck went by with the siren going and the geese went into the lake.

I read some outside. I did laundry (the towels that I used yesterday to clean up the mess from the upstairs bathroom). I cleaned up some of the backyard.

DSCN0955 copy
The book I was reading.
It’s different from most books I have read.
It takes place in 18th century Scotland.

I read some. A maintenance guy came to fix the sink in the upstairs bathroom sink. I made some chocolate chip cookies. I took the trash out.

DSCN0965 copy

I put about a tablespoon of peanut butter in them.

I took my mom to get some groceries (using my oldest nephew’s car). I dropped some items off at the library on the way. We also got my mom’s prescription medication. I read some. I did some laundry then helped my mom with supper (I melted some cheese for nachos). Before I took a shower, I found out that the pipes under the sink aren’t fixed. The guy had put some goo on the pipes and it wasn’t holding (we had waited the 24 hours he told us to).

I hung up some laundry outside since it wasn’t raining. I did another load of laundry and hung it up in the basement since it was whites. I read some. After supper I made some cupcakes using some Halloween mix that we had. I cleaned some in the playroom and the living room.

April 16th–30th 2014

April 16th – 22nd

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I raked some leaves away from the fence by the driveway. I also sewed some of my mom’s dress for Ester. My next to the oldest nephew left his phone in the car, so my mom and I took it to him (after supper). On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen for some ice cream. I read some outside, but it was too chilly to be out there for very long.

DSCN0296 copy

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some outside. I tried to work on my mom’s dress, but my sewing machine wasn’t working right. I took some of it apart (I took the back off) and thought I fixed it. I have done this same thing before. This time it didn’t work. My mom said that she would just buy me a new one, so we looked in some ads for ones on sale. We decided to go and check out what Walmart had. I found a Singer one for under $100 that I liked, so we got that one and we also got some things for her, my dad, and my oldest nephew. After supper I set up my new machine and some of it needed cleaning. There was too much oil on the bobbin and connecting pieces. I then sewed some of my mom’s dress.

DSCN0298 copy
The sun trying to shine through the tress in the side yard.

I finished my mom’s dress. I then made her a shawl/poncho. I read some outside. I made some Easter ‘baskets’ for my nephews and ‘nieces’ [they aren’t my official nieces, they are foster right now]. I cleaned the grill plates off so that my dad could cook out. I hung up clothes in the basement since they were white clothes.

DSCN0311 copy
Here is my new sewing machine, settling in it’s new home.
It’s a Singer Simple with 23 built in stiches.

I edited some of the pictures I had taken from Teen Bible Quizzing Finals. I hemmed some pants for a woman at church. I helped my mom (then later my older sister and next to the oldest nephew) take apart a small slide we have. We are giving it to my brother’s girlfriend for the girls they are fostering. My older sister and her family stopped by, so I gave her boys their Easter ‘baskets’. I read some outside in my mom’s swing. My parents, my oldest nephew, and I went to my brother’s girlfriend’s church for an Easter service they were having. After the service we went out to eat. We all came back here so that my brother’s girlfriend could pick up the slide. I gave the girls (they are fostering) their Easter ‘baskets’. [I didn’t share a pic of the Easter ‘baskets’ because I didn’t take a very good picture of them. I used Wedding Favor paper bags.]

HAPPY EASTER! (or Resurrection Sunday, as some call it.)

The message from April 20th was titled, “The Significance of Easter” and the text was Mark 16:1-8. Three Important Truths to live out Easter everyday are; 1) Jesus is God (John 5:17-18, 10:9, 14:6-7),
2) No No Situation is Beyond God’s Power (Colossians 1:19-20, Romans 8:11, Ephesians 3:20-21, Philippians 4:13), and 3) God’s Forgiveness is Available to You/Everyone (Mark 16:5-7, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 1:9).
After lunch I cut up and smashed strawberries for desert for supper (Strawberry shortcake). My mom then went with me to get my next to the oldest nephew so he could spend the night. We tried to go to a grocery store, but it was closed for Easter. We ended up going to a different one and then came home and my mom fixed supper.

DSCN0388 copy
The Easter Bunny at church gave the kids some hardboiled eggs.
The kids did hunt plastic eggs filled with candy and toys.

I did laundry and hung it up in the basement since there was a possibility of rain. I folded some clothes and put them away. I sat in my mom’s swing and read for awhile. I raked most of the leaves out of the garden area in the front yard. I took my next to the oldest nephew home. His dad (my brother-in-law) went to the ER for some problem he was having.

DSCN0444 copy
The sky as I took my nephew home.

I hung up laundry in the basement (I didn’t want to hang them up outside). I went with my mom to Walmart and we got my oldest sister some flowers (Hyacinths) like we had bought for ourselves. We came home and found out that the mowers had blown leaves under one of our swing sets (this isn’t the first time this has happened-they did it in the fall). My mom called our property manager and I e-mailed her photos. I read some outside. My parents and I went to a concert at my youngest nephew’s school. All the first grade classes were singing songs. I took the trash to the curb.

DSCN0457 copy

I have no clue what kind of bush it is (the bush was there when we moved in).

April 23rd – 30th

I did some laundry and hung them up in the basement. I went to the library to drop some things off and picked up some items that I had on hold. My next to the oldest nephew went with me (he didn’t have any school on the 23rd of April). I trimmed the bushes out front and put ‘Fred’ (the scarecrow) away. I read some in my mom’s swing. I cleaned up under the bushes and planted some Zinnia seeds (some in pots and some in the ground). I also planted (in pots) some Gladiolus. I read some more in my mom’s swing then helped my mom make supper (our own version of Cheese Hotdogs in Pretzel Buns).
I finished reading A Wedding For Julia by Vannetta Chapman (I started reading it on April 9th). I started reading The Last Bride by Beverly Lewis.

I played some games with my next to the oldest nephew (he was here for a little while). I took him home. I read some out side.

I took my mom to run some errands, well first we waited until a Plummer came to fix a pipe in the basement that was leaking. We went to the library for the book sale they were having and I picked up an item I had on hold. My dad cooked out while I read in my mom’s swing.

The message from April 27th was titled, “Worst To First” and the text was 1 Corinthians 15:1-14. Three Steps to a Transformed Life that will have a Lasting Change in our Lives (that will help us go from Worst To first) are; 1) Accept Who We Are (1 Corinthians 15:9, 1 Timothy 1:15), 2) Surrender Completely to God’s Grace (1 Corinthians 15:10), and 3) Ask God for Strength (1 Corinthians 15:10-11).
I sat outside and read some. I did some laundry.
I finished reading The Last Bride by Beverly Lewis which I started reading on April 23rd.

Actually, it’s extra candy that my ‘nieces’ were given.

I did some laundry and hung it up inside since there is a chance of rain. I cleaned my fan. I took it apart and blew some canned air into the motor. I also soaked the front and back covers in soapy water.
I started reading Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo.

DSCN0620 copy

These are considered weeds.
I think they are pretty.

I read some. I went through some old papers that I had been keeping. I did some laundry and hung some of it outside. I cleaned underneath one of our swing sets. I took apart the Step2 slide that we have so I could clean it. After supper I read some in my mom’s swing and it started to rain. I took the clothes off the line. I took the trash out.

DSCN0630 copy
While cleaning up under the swing set I moved a board and saw this snake.
I took a picture of it and left the area. I don’t really like snakes.

My brother-in-law is in the hospital [I can’t remember why]. I took my mom to the store (using my brother-in-law’s van). I came home for a little bit then went and got my older sister from work, took her to run a few errands then to the hospital to see her husband. I came home for a little while and started cleaning off the Step2 slide and a baby swing we have. I then went and got two of my nephews from school (my older sister’s younger two). I brought them back here and finished cleaning the slide. I then went and got my next to the oldest from school (he stayed after for a club meeting). My sister, her youngest two, and my mom went with me. I took them to run a few errands and get supper for them. I dropped them off at their house then my mom and I got super for us (and my dad). After supper I hung up some laundry in the basement.

April 1st–15th 2014

April 1st – 8th

My next to the oldest nephew’s 15th birthday was on April 1st.

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read outside in my mom’s swing for awhile. I took the trash out.
I finished reading A Home for Lydia by Vannetta Chapman on April 1st, I started reading it on March 18th.

DSCN0152 copy

DSCN0165 copy
A bunny about to go through the fence.

I’m reading some of my Nine Stories in one book until I can get to the Library and get some more books to read. I did some laundry, but couldn’t hang it up outside since it was rainy. My mom tried to work on April 2nd, but her knee hurt too much. She came home and made an appointment with her regular doctor. I drove her to the appointment then picked her up when she was done. We then went to Walmart since the doctor gave her some medicine to help with the pain. They didn’t have one of the medicines, so we’ll have to go again tomorrow. We got some groceries from Walmart then some subs from Subway for supper. We got some gas in the car then came home.

DSCN0190 copy
I tried these type of pretzels today. They are both yummy.

I woke to all kinds of noise then realized that it was raining. I read some and did some laundry. I went and got the medication that Walmart didn’t have yesterday. While I was there I got some lunchmeat and bread. I forgot to take a picture on April 3rd.

I read and did some laundry [that’s all I can remember doing on April 4th].

DSCN0191 copy
My mom made this scarf for me.
The color of this picture is off.
The color of the scarf is off-white.

I did some laundry and hung up rugs and towels outside. I got some supper for my parents and brought it back to the house. I then left with my brother and two oldest nephews to go watch God’s Not Dead. We went and got something to eat before going to the movie. After the movie we took my next to the oldest nephew home, then my brother dropped me off at my house and took our oldest nephew home. I did some more laundry after I got home.

DSCN0197 copy

The message from April 6th was titled, “You’ve Got Responsibility” and the text was Galatians 6. Three truths about responsibility that we need to accept and live by if we are going to take ahold of the victory that God provides us through Jesus Christ are; 1) We Have a Responsibility to Others (Galatians 6:1, James 5:19-20, Galatians 6:1-3), 2) We Have a responsibility to Ourselves-To avoid Comparisons (Galatians 6:1), Own Our Conduct (Galatians 6:5, Romans 6:23, Galatians 6:7-8), & Perseverance (Galatians 6:9), and 3) We Have a Responsibility to God (Galatians 6:14-16, 2 Corinthians 5:21).
After church my parents and I went to get something to eat. A couple of the little girls from church were there with their dad and they wanted me to eat by them, so I did. We came home and changed clothes then my mom and I went and got my dad’s prescription medication. We got a few things while there and got some gas in the car.

DSCN0204 copy
Me, ready for church.

I did some laundry. I went with my parents to go get my oldest nephew from his apartment. He is going to stay here so that he has a ride to work. He was using a friend’s vehicle and it needs work. On the way home we went to County Market to get some groceries then ran an errand for my oldest sister. I read some.

DSCN0211 copy
My mom bought me this cup today.

I raked some leaves out of the garden area out front. I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I put up some Easter decorations on the windows on the front porch. I read some outside in my mom’s swing. While I was inside doing something there were brief showers and I had left my camera and tablet outside. Thankfully my tablet was under my bag and my camera was inside it’s bag, so they didn’t get wet-just the bags. I got the clothes off the line-some of them had gotten wet. I took the trash out to the curb.

DSCN0219 copy
I made this bird feeder today.
It didn’t last too long. Once it rained really hard, it broke and became soggy.

April 9th – 15th

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I helped my mom fix dinner (This recipe). I took my parents to my mom’s doctor appointment. I had to go to my older sister’s house and my mom went with me. On the way there I stopped by the library in their town and picked up some items (I can use my library card there).
I started reading A Wedding For Julia by Vannetta Chapman.

DSCN0230 copy

[FYI: It was yummy, but the bacon was a little soft (I like crispy bacon) and it didn’t stay attached to the chicken.]

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I put a small Easter tree on the front porch (on top of the AC units we keep out there). My mom and I went to Hancock Fabrics to look at the patterns they had on sale. We found a couple that she likes and I even found one I like. We looked for material for a shawl for her there, but didn’t find any she liked. We then went to JoAnn Fabrics and didn’t find any there. We then went grocery shopping. We stopped at Walmart and looked through their remnant bin and found some material that my mom liked for her shawl. We came home and I made some Strawberry Shortcake. I read some in my mom’s swing while my dad cooked on the grill.

DSCN0240 copy

I took my oldest nephew to the mall on the way to do an errand for my mom and oldest sister. My mom and I ran into someone we hadn’t seen in awhile and talked to him for a bit. We did another errand and my nephew called and said he was done at the mall. I picked him up and then we ran some more errands. I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read in my mom’s swing while my dad cooked on the grill (again).

I did some laundry and hung it up outside. I read some outside. I took my mom to get some supper for us. I also made a back-up DVD of some pictures, but will probably re-do it since some pictures weren’t on my computer’s hard drive.

Psalm Sunday
(The Sunday Before Easter)

The message from April 13th was titled, “Why Get Ready For Easter?” and the text was 1 Corinthians 15. Three things that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Changes are; 1) The Meaning of Faith (1 Corinthians 15:17), 2) The Meaning of Death (I Corinthians 15:18, 55, John 14:3), and 3) The Meaning of Life (1 Corinthians 15:19). Four words we need to focus on to get ready for Easter are; 1) Remember (1 Corinthians 11:24-25), 2) Proclaim (1 Corinthians 11:26), 3) Examine (I Corinthians 11:27-28), and 4) Recognize (I Corinthians 11:29).
After lunch I went and got my oldest nephew from his apartment (my mom went with me). On the way back here we stopped and got some gas in the car and then got some frozen yogurt (we also got some for my dad). Shortly after we got home I went with my older sister and brother-in-law to run some errands.

DSCN0277 copy
The sun trying to peek through the clouds while I went with my older sister to run some errands.

I hung up laundry in the basement since it was cold on April 14th (mid 40s and rainy). I went to the library to get some items I had on hold. I cut out my mom’s pattern pieces for her Easter dress. In the evening it started to snow.

DSCN0283 copy
Yep, we had snow in the middle of April.
I can’t remember how much we got.

I read some and did some laundry. I took my mom grocery/Easter shopping. We went to the dollar store and got a few things for my nephews for Easter. We then went grocery shopping and picked up my mom’s prescription medication from Walmart. While at Wlamart we got two Hyacinths that were on special buy for $0.98 each. We got one blue/purple and one pink. I pinned the front and back pieces of my mom’s pattern to the material for her Easter dress. I took the trash out.
